South-eastern Metro MP Rachel Payne is trying to score a goal for the Lynbrook Falcon sports club by lobbying for an upgrade of their Cranbourne North grounds.
Ms Payne said the Lynbrook Falcons were one of the biggest clubs in the area with their home ground at Lawson Poole Reserve.
“I’ve heard from a constituent who helps around the club, making sure the club rooms and pitches are kept tidy, but despite their best efforts the facilities just aren’t fit for a growing club,” Ms Payne said.
“The club has asked their local council to fund some upgrades, and thankfully the pitches will be fixed in the off-season however they still need more fencing, road repairs, lighting improvements and other facilities.
Ms Payne said she had raised the need for ground improvements for the Lynbrook Falcons in state parliament.
“I’ve called on the Victorian Minister for Sport Steve Dimopoulos to seek funding for infrastructure improvements at the Lawson Poole Reserve so that this club can continue to train the next generation of soccer stars for Australia,” she said.
“There could be contenders for the Matildas or Socceroos learning how to play with the Falcons, but most importantly this club delivers fun and connection to the South-East – that’s definitely worth investing in.”
