Rachel raised an adjournment to ascertain a response to the 59th Parliament’s Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee inquiry into the use of cannabis in Victoria.

Rachel Payne spoke during the debate on the opposition’s motion calling for a referral to the Ombudsman to review the hiring of Jeroen Weimar.

Waste company Veolia have been denied a permit to construct a waste transfer station in Hampton Park. An environmental impact assessment by the EPA noting “unacceptable risks to human health”. Despite this, Veolia are now appealing the decision through VCAT based on a minor technicality. Speaking on behalf of concerned residents, Rachel sought assurance from the Minister that this project will not go ahead.

Rachel asked the government to take meaningful steps to eradicate the deeply ingrained homophobic culture in the Australian Football League.
