Rachel Payne asked the government about what conclusions had been made from their recent anti-vilification round table and if they will respond to the Victorian Pride Lobby’s report.

Rachel raises an adjournment matter on IDAHOBIT about accelerating extremist attacks on the LGBTIQ+ community.

On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Intersexism (IDAHOBIT) Rachel rose in Parliament to pay homage to all of Victoria’s 79 councils for raising Pride Flags on IDAHOBIT and the Rainbow Community Angels proactive and positive response to the extremist actions hate speech leading up to this day.

On the eve of IDAHOBIT 2023, Rachel released an open letter highlighting concerns from constituents and the LGBTIQ+ community about the rising extremism marring safe spaces and the escalating need for anti-vilification laws in response.

Rachel communicated a constituent’s distress and disappointment over a children’s Easter event which was shut down after a group of anti-LGBTIQ+ fringe activists threatened to stalk drag performers.

Rachel raises an adjournment matter requesting that the Minister for Police meet urgently with the LGBTIQ+ community to explain disproportionate police actions during an anti-trans rally on Saturday 18th March.

We are lucky to live in a state that welcomes people for who they are, yet sadly, we continue to hear that discrimination still continues to hurt our community and infiltrate many facets of our society where we should all feel safe.

Rachel asks a question to the Leader of the House about the progress of anti-vilification protections in light of the events of Saturday 18th February.
