Victorian Legislative Council, Melbourne – Rachel Payne discusses the Impacts of Cannabis on Driving Performance

On International Women’s Day. Rachel rises for an adjournment matter addressed to the Minister for Women, relating to reproductive health leave.

Rachel asks a question of the Minister for Agriculture, Gail Tierney relating to implementing a hemp industry grants scheme.

Rachel raised an adjournment to ascertain a response to the 59th Parliament’s Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee inquiry into the use of cannabis in Victoria.

Rachel asked the Minister for Health to ensure that the regulation of IVF is on the national agenda. The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) was dissolved at the end of 2024. With news of embryo mix-ups and a 2022 report by the Victorian Agency for Health Information suggesting that IVF clinics might be under-reporting dangerous incidents, there are major concerns around the regulation of assisted reproductive treatment.

Rachel asked for assurance that donor-conceived children and their families will no longer be left behind following the dissolution of Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA).

Rachel addressed the Treasurer in parliament, asking if this government will consider the economic benefits of the regulation and legalisation of cannabis.
